Flat Rock Park
If you’re looking for recreational activities or just a place to unwind, head over to Flat Rock Park. Go bass fishing at the lake, ride a bike path, play some disc golf, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet. The park is open every day from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free.
National Civil War Naval Museum
For Civil War history buffs, the National Civil War Naval Museum is a must-see destination. Exhibits include the largest surviving Confederate warship, the CSS Jackson as well as the wreckage of the CSS Chattahoochee. The museum also boats the largest collection of Civil War Naval-related flags on display in the country. Admission is $7 for seniors and members of the military, and $6 for students. Children six and under get in free. The museum is open Monday through Saturday 10:00a.m.-4:30p.m. and Sunday 12:30p.m. – 4:30p.m.
Coca-Cola Space Science Center
Leave the Earth behind for a while with a visit to the Coca-Cola Space Science Center. Combining education with entertainment, the center has several exhibits that promote exploration and discovery. Cooper Creek Park
Serve up some fun at Cooper Creek Park’s tennis center. With 30 lighted courts, it’s the largest soft-court public tennis facility in the United States. Hours and prices vary, so check out https://parks.columbusga.gov/Sports/Tennis for more information. If tennis isn’t your thing, Copper Creek Park also has running trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
And if you’re willing to travel a bit further outside of the city, Providence Canyon State Park has some of the most stunning rock formations Georgia has to offer.

The National Infantry Museum
Experience what it’s like to serve in the infantry with a large screen theatre and a combat simulator at The National Infantry Museum. With more than 1,800 artifacts on display, the museum is one of the country’s leading destinations for military history. Located right by Fort Benning, the museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. and Sunday 11:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Admission is free, though a $5 donation is encouraged.

A unique combination of American art and regional history comes alive at The Columbus Museum, one of the largest museums in the Southeast. Explore the Chattahoochee Valley through a permanent collection of hundreds of objects. Be sure to enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Bradley Olmsted Garden. The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday.
