As with the rest of the world, IHG® Army Hotels had to adjust to the challenges of COVID-19, which meant the temporary shutdown of certain amenities. As we return to normalcy, I’m pleased to announce that weekly socials are back as of June 1st, 2022. These socials are a great opportunity for guests to connect with each other and IHG Army Hotels team members in a fun and casual environment.
We recognize how important human connection is during long-term stays, which is why we go to great lengths to ensure these socials are as fun and engaging as possible. While some of these weekly events include games like bingo or team trivia, every single one includes a tasty meal, like pizza, burgers, or even seasonal dishes around the holidays. And as attendees meet and mingle, they’re able to talk with people they never would have met otherwise. First Lieutenant Youssauf Kaba, one of our previous guests, put it this way: “When you get to make new friends like that, meeting people from all different countries, it’s kind of interesting, so I really do appreciate the socials.”

We’re extremely excited to bring this amenity back to our hotels across 40 different U.S. Army posts*. Delivering a five-star stay to our guests is always our top priority and our weekly socials are just another way we can accomplish that mission. Stay tuned for special celebrations during our socials as well.
Shay Baranowski, General Manager of IHG Army Hotels on Fort Benning, does a great job describing our socials, saying “Once we engage each other at our weekly socials, our guests do not think twice about reaching out to me or the managers they’ve met at the social; that means they feel comfortable and at home. We spend authentic, quality time with them and I guess it's true what they say — you get closer to people you break bread with.”
