Thanksgiving reminds us to pause and reflect on the blessings in our lives. Beyond the food and football, Thanksgiving carries a deeper message: gratitude. It’s the time of year when we open our homes to friends and loved ones and show them how much they mean to us. That kind of hospitality is at the heart of what we do for the military community.
Our team members are made up of veterans and military families who understand and respect the challenges of military travel. Our strict brand standards help ensure that our guests receive the best experience possible when visiting IHG Army Hotels.
Over the past 15 years, many guests have shared their praises for our properties and 5-star hospitality. In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, we’re honored to share a few of these stories of gratitude.
One guest who stayed at the Candlewood Suites on Fort Drum wrote that the hotel had the “best and most equipped rooms I've stayed in on a military base in recent memory.” They also appreciated the efforts made for social activities, having an opportunity to participate in Taco Bar night and contribute to a fundraiser to benefit Stephen Siller’s Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
“Feels like home” is one of the highest compliments an IHG Army Hotels property can receive. Many guest reviews mention that outstanding service during their stays provided an extra level of comfort. At IHG Army Hotels Foulois House, a Historia CollectionTM hotel on Joint Base San Antonio, one guest commented, “It is charming, warm and welcoming… It feels like coming home. It will always be our first choice in San Antonio!” Another guest shared that the maintenance, staff, location, and attention to detail all were exceptional.
Special touches make a stay memorable, and our team members have been known to provide extra flourishes from time to time. While staying at IHG Army Hotels Buildings 366 & 367 on Presidio of Monterey, one guest was pleasantly surprised with yellow roses and a welcome card in their room. They shared with staff how impressed the family was with the spotless hotel, delicious breakfast, and added treats.
This same team also knew that another guest was in town to celebrate a special occasion, so they went above and beyond to make it memorable. “The champagne and cheese tray found in the room after my induction was a beautiful surprise and a way to toast the ceremony we had just attended. You even thought to have non-alcoholic beverages for our grandchildren,” the guest commented. “I have to add that there was a jar of quince paste, and it brought back such wonderful memories for me, my wife, and daughter of eating my mother-in-law’s quince jam. We hope to return to the Monterey area and will always try to stay with you if space is available.”
Our commitment to providing high-quality accommodations is especially appreciated during PCS season. Having a clean, comfortable, and convenient place to stay makes a world of difference when a military family is between homes.
Influencer Kirstin Navaroli is no stranger to PCS. She’s one of two women who make up Wives of the Armed Forces. You may have read their blog, listened to their podcast, or seen their content on Instagram (@wivesofthearmedforces). Earlier this year, Kirstin shared a couple videos describing the value and peace of mind that IHG Army Hotels provides during PCS.
Kirstin says that staying at one of our hotels on Joint Base San Antonio was “one of the best decisions” she and her husband made during their first PCS.
“It allowed us to keep our spending low during that temporary time by cooking meals in the hotel kitchenette vs relying on takeout. It also eliminated us having to travel with extras because we didn't have to worry about bedding, towels, a microwave, etc. It empowered us to confidently explore our new home area with the on-site resources and area recommendations.”
IHG Amy Hotels has been reviewed thousands of times since we started in 2009. At our 15th anniversary party at IHG’s North American Headquarters, we were honored to share a few quotes from some of the many positive letters we have received:
“Many thanks for the great hospitality by you and your amazing team.”
“As an Air Force Family, I am blown away by the (Army) Lodging.”
“Thank you for your hospitality… your kindness was a bright spot in our trip.”
“Your front desk clerk was friendly, polite, and everything that we would want our soldiers and their families to encounter when they walk into one of the IHG facilities.”
“Absolutely made being away from home so much easier. My quality of life was amazing…”
“The accommodations, amenities, atmosphere, and customer service exceeded all our expectations.”
“Your dedication to providing superb customer service is appreciated.”
“The Staff is extremely friendly and they go out of their way to serve guests with their fantastic hospitality.”
“In today’s world, it is hard to find people who cooperate together to form a successful staff. Your people were professional, personable, and very knowledgeable.”
“It was truly one of the best experiences at a hotel I’ve ever had!”
To all our guests, thank you for choosing IHG Army Hotels for your travel needs. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
