A strong partnership is one that sees a roadblock and rises to the challenge rather than steering in a different direction. Over the years, the partnership between IHG® Army Hotels and Lendlease has continued to grow and evolve. And while this year has been met with some challenges, these partners embraced their strengths and overcame the odds, together.
In July, IHG Army Hotels and Lendlease celebrated the grand opening of the Candlewood Suites® on Fort Gordon, the brand’s largest in the world. While facing the obstacles that COVID-19 brings, the team relentlessly worked to finish construction of the 311-room hotel, including a variety of rooms with kitchenettes and amenities to include complimentary breakfast, laundry facilities, business center, fitness center, a pool, and BBQ area. Developed under the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, the Candlewood Suites on Fort Gordon keeps the unique needs and safety of today’s military traveler top of mind. “Whether military travelers are with us for a single night, or an extended stay, this hotel provides space to settle in and rest during their journey, supported by hotel colleagues who understand the needs of military travelers. We are honored to support the base’s mission and deliver IHG’s signature hospitality and amenities to travelers through Fort Gordon,” said Chuck Sourbeer, Head of Operations, IHG Army Hotels.
Rallying off July’s success, IHG Army Hotels and Lendlease announced the first phase opening of the newest Candlewood Suites, the fourteenth Candlewood Suites in the PAL portfolio. The 171-room West Building hotel is pet friendly and includes a variety of rooms with kitchenettes and amenities such as complimentary breakfast, laundry facilities, business center, and a fitness center. The 146-room East Building, slated to be completed in spring 2021, will also include a swimming pool, picnic gazebo, and Distinguished Visitors Quarters lounge. “I am very proud of our team and our partners at Lendlease coming together during this difficult time to deliver this amazing hotel. This is another example of the success of privatization and our mission to revitalize DoD lodging,” said Chuck Sourbeer. The new hotel is a welcomed replacement of the previous hotel that was well past its prime.
I am very proud of our team and our partners at Lendlease coming together during this difficult time to deliver this amazing hotel.
There is strength in numbers, and the successful partnership between IHG Army Hotels and Lendlease is proof that even during the most unprecedented times, we can overcome any and all challenges. Through the PAL, IHG Army Hotels and Lendlease’s number one goal is to continue to deliver a higher caliber of hospitality for the military traveler.
Rest assured, IHG Army Hotels understands that cleanliness is top of mind for today’s traveler. Guests can be confident that their room will meet IHG’s high standards of cleanliness while delivering True Hospitality.
