~1.5-hour drive from Fort Carson
Pikes Peak towers above the plains of Colorado at 14,115 feet and if you’re staying on Fort Carson you’ll be able to see it to the West! If you’re already at Cascade after visiting Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole, you are right at the beginning of the drive up to the top of Pike’s Peak, known as Pikes Peak Highway. There are a few different ways to get to the top of the mountain, but we recommend either the 19-mile drive or the newly opened Pikes Peak Cog Railway. The cog railway is a 3.5-hour round trip journey to the Summit from the city of Manitou. The amazing views from the top of the summit are worth the journey! Keep in mind that winter conditions often close the highway, so it’s best to check in advance.
