At IHG® Army Hotels, we’re always helping guests find comfort through the stress of a permanent change of station. Our staff, comprised of both veterans and military families, understand these transitions and do everything they can to create a welcoming environment for anyone on the move. Given their experience and expertise, we wanted to provide some tips on how to PCS directly from a few IHG® Army Hotels employees.

Tuvaelagi Sea:

“I am a first-time, active-duty military spouse and one piece of advice that helped me and my family is to never stop asking questions if it’s something that you don’t understand. Always ask questions and get more insight on a situation or how to go about doing something.”

Robert Horton:

“Find a good location to store everything you don’t want shipped. My wife and I would put our important documents, uniforms, clothes, and money in one of the bathrooms so the movers wouldn’t accidentally pack and ship them.”

Lucille Valez:

“My PCS experience took me from Alaska to Fort Campbell. I’d say it’s very important to plan and book in advance and more so when you have children traveling with you.”

Paule Neale, U.S. Air Force (R)

“In the 24 years I served in the U.S. Air Force, I PCS’ed seven times to four overseas bases and three stateside bases. My 1st sergeant told me to get everyone involved in the move since it’s affecting everyone. That really helped us out because my kids really enjoyed being part of the process, and it wasn’t just dad doing everything.”
