Permanent Change of Station in 2022

Go to previous page

A permanent change of station is a significant transition that can leave you feeling stressed or overwhelmed, but IHG® Army Hotels is here to help. While there have been fewer PCS orders over the last few years due to COVID, it’s best to be prepared just in case as many moving companies and other services are experiencing delays nationwide.

To start, be sure to check your benefits for your PCS move. There are lists with pre-approved moving services through MilitaryOneSource.mil along with guidelines for packing, housing options, and further info on per diem and allowances. Once you’re ready to start packing, check out our 7 Tips to Make Your Next PCS Move a Success and make sure you create an itemized list of items you will be packing, especially unusual or irregularly shaped items. Having itemized lists will speed up the claims process in the event that you experience loss or damage to your personal property.

If you’re moving to a post with an IHG® Army Hotels location, be sure to ask the front desk about BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) rates. The BAH rate is available upon request, under certain terms and conditions. A family (or anyone on PCS orders) having trouble securing housing should contact the housing office (or hotel front desk) for a form that provides hotel staff with the information they need to manually adjust the rate, so the going-forward rate equals their particular BAH. The BAH rate will be available through the end of 2022 and you can find more information and the full terms and conditions from Military Times.

When you stay at an IHG Army Hotels location, know that our hotel teams are comprised of veterans, military spouses and family members who have a deep understanding of the sacrifices made during a permanent change of station.

Moving was always stressful for me and my family as we PCSd from one military duty station to another, stateside and abroad.  The concern of not being able to find adequate accommodations at a reasonable price was always something that worried me. Now, 26 years later, as a proud General Manager of an IHG® Army Hotel, I feel confident that my team and I are removing some of the stress from military members and their families by providing them a safe and reasonable home away from home at our hotel.
